About Prof. Dr. Sevilay Altintas

Sevilay Altintas was born on March 18, 1971 and began her medical education in 1991 at the University of Antwerp. She graduated in 1999 and did her internal medicine training at the University of Antwerp. She became a specialist in internal medicine in 2003 and started as a fellow in medical oncology at the University of Antwerp (UZA). In 2005, she became a senior staff member in the Department of Medical Oncology at the University Hospital Antwerp. In 2011, she received her PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Antwerp. Her dissertation was titled “Prognostic Factors in Ductal Carcinoma in Situ. As of December 2012, she is an associate professor at the University of Antwerp and will be involved in teaching and training students, medical and paramedical staff.

Sevilay Altintas is a medical oncologist. Her main areas of interest are breast cancer, gynecologic oncology and cancer during pregnancy. She is active as a staff member in the Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic and Gynecological Oncology at Antwerp University Hospital, AZ Monika (Deurne) and AZ Rivierenland (Bornem).

She is principal investigator of several national and international phase I-II-III-IV studies in breast and gynecological cancer. Sevilay Altintas is a member of several societies: ESMO, BSMO, ASCO, EORTC, BGOG and ESGO. She actively participates in the ESGO “Cancer in Pregnancy” task force and is an active member of the ABCIP (Advisory Board on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy).

Prof. Altintas participates in several physical exercise programs with oncology patients.
