About Dr. Laure-Anne Teuwen

Dr. Laure-Anne Teuwen obtained her medical degree from the University of Leuven (Belgium) and her joint PhD degree from the University of Leuven and University of Antwerp (Belgium). She currently practices as a medical oncologist in Antwerp University Hospital, where she specialises in gynaecological oncology, breast oncology, global oncology and phase I – early clinical trials.

As a clinician-researcher and holder of a clinical post-doctoral research mandate from Stichting Tegen Kanker, she studies the management of cervical cancer in low-resource settings in collaboration with the non-governmental organization Doctors Without Borders. In 2022-2023, she has worked as an expat oncologist for Doctors Without Borders in Blantyre, Malawi and Bamako, Mali.

Dr. Teuwen is principal investigator on several oncological clinical studies in the University Hospital Antwerp. She has co-authored more than 35 scientific papers in journals such as Cell, Nature Reviews Immunology, Cancer Cell, Cell Reports and Cancer Treatment Reviews, and serves on the editorial board of the JCO Global Oncology. She is the manager and coordinator of the Global Oncology Work Group (GLOW-group), is a member of several international scientific societies such as ESMO, AORTIC, ASCO and BSMO, and a member of the European Doctors Orchestra.
